Night Owl: Sleep Coach is published by Mindware Consulting, Inc. (“Mindware,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when it may be shared with service providers, and how you can contact us or request deletion of your data.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Night Owl: Sleep Coach mobile application, related support communications, optional account and sync features, and related website pages we use to support the app.
2. Information We Collect
a. Information you provide or choose to store
- Account information such as your email address, password credentials handled through our authentication providers, username or account identifiers, and profile information such as year of birth or other onboarding details you choose to provide.
- Sleep log and program data that you enter, such as bedtime, wake time, time to fall asleep, awakenings, time awake during the night, sleep quality ratings, stress or sadness ratings, comments, treatment progress, and related coaching information.
- Messages or information you send to us when you contact support.
b. Information collected automatically
- App interactions and usage information, such as screens viewed, features used, program progress, session activity, and analytics events.
- Device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and similar technical metadata.
- Identifiers used to operate the app and related services, such as app-instance, installation, device, or other pseudonymous identifiers.
- Crash logs, stack traces, error reports, and related app state used to identify and fix stability issues.
- Diagnostics, performance telemetry, and technical information used to maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
- Configuration and service-delivery data used by remote configuration, messaging, install, authentication, subscription, billing, licensing, or analytics services.
c. Notifications and subscriptions
- If you enable reminders or notifications, we may store reminder preferences and use local or push-notification services to deliver reminders to complete logs or treatment tasks.
- If you purchase or maintain a subscription, the transaction is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive your full payment card details, but we may receive purchase, renewal, cancellation, or subscription-status information needed to provide the paid service.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information and technical data to:
- provide, operate, and maintain Night Owl: Sleep Coach;
- save your logs, calculate sleep-related measures, and provide coaching, treatment scheduling, and progress features;
- support account creation, sign-in, sync, restore, subscription, and deletion workflows;
- monitor app interactions, app stability, crash logs, and diagnostics so we can debug and improve the app;
- deliver reminders or notifications that you request or enable;
- verify purchases or subscription status;
- protect against abuse, fraud, misuse, and security incidents; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Service Providers and Infrastructure
We use third-party service providers that process information on our behalf to help operate the app. Depending on the features you use, these providers may include Microsoft Azure hosting and Google services such as Firebase Authentication, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Remote Config, Firebase Installations, Crashlytics, and Google Play billing services.
These providers may process account information, app interactions, identifiers, subscription-related technical data, crash logs, diagnostics, configuration data, device metadata, and app-content synchronization data as needed to provide their services to us.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information:
- to service providers that help us run, secure, maintain, analyze, host, authenticate, or support the app;
- to complete transactions, verify subscriptions, or provide app functionality you request;
- to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
- to protect the rights, safety, and property of Mindware, our users, or others; and
- in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to applicable law.
If we use de-identified or aggregated information for internal analysis, product improvement, or research support, we will not intentionally include directly identifying information in that de-identified dataset.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the app, maintain account or sync features you request, investigate issues, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Different categories of data may be retained for different periods. For example, local app data may remain on your device until you delete the app or clear the data, while account records, subscription records, support records, crash logs, and diagnostics may be retained for reasonable periods needed for operations, troubleshooting, legal compliance, and security.
7. Your Choices and Deletion Requests
- You may be able to delete local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage on your device.
- If the app offers account deletion or sync deletion features, you may use those in-app tools.
- You may request deletion of account-linked or server-stored data by contacting us at [email protected].
- You can manage push notification permissions in your device settings.
8. Privacy Rights by Region
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or export of personal information, and to limit or object to certain processing.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions
You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Virginia and other U.S. state privacy laws
If applicable state law gives you privacy rights, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of personal data we maintain about you. Where applicable, you may also request to opt out of certain processing such as targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Night Owl: Sleep Coach is not intended to sell personal data.
Brazil (LGPD)
If the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD) applies to you, you may request confirmation of processing, access to your data, correction of incomplete or inaccurate information, anonymization, blocking or deletion of unnecessary or unlawfully processed data, portability where applicable, information about sharing, and review of consent-based processing where relevant.
South Korea and other regions
If local law provides privacy or data protection rights, including rights to access, correct, delete, suspend processing, or file a complaint, you may contact us using the details below and we will review your request in accordance with applicable law.

10. Sensitive or Wellness-Related Information
Some information entered into Night Owl: Sleep Coach, such as sleep-log details, mood or stress ratings, or treatment-related notes, may be considered sensitive or wellness-related under some laws or by some users. We use that information only to provide, maintain, support, and improve the app and the services you request.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here and revise the effective date or last updated date above.
